Adapted Uniform Policy

During periods of hot weather in June, the school implemented its adapted uniform policy and made effective use of shaded outdoor areas during break and lunchtime to help keep pupils safe and comfortable. These practical measures demonstrated Lostock’s commitment to adapting to the increasing impacts of extreme weather while maintaining a positive learning environment

Mental Health week

This week was Mental Health Awareness Week. Children spent time learning about Mental Health and how to look after their well-being. All children took part in a live Joe Wicks session to promote being active and how this can further support Mental Health. In addition, children in Year 5 completed some training to become Mental Health Champions and learned how to help others who may be experiencing difficulties.

Donations to Bolton’s Toy Library

By reusing and redistributing plastic toys, our school community is taking a small but meaningful step toward a more sustainable future. Initiatives like our recent collection for Bolton Toy Library show how everyday actions
can contribute to adaptation and resilience—helping us reduce waste, extend the life of materials and respond thoughtfully to environmental challenges.

A huge thank you to all our families for their generous donations, to our Future Leaders and to Mrs Melling for organising such a successful collection. Your kindness and support not only bring joy to others but also
demonstrate how communities can work together to use resources more responsibly and build resilience for the future.

At this year’s Summer Fair, Lostock Primary School proudly showcased its commitment to sustainability while engaging parents and the wider community in climate action. The event was a celebration of eco-awareness, highlighted by a special visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton. Children took centre stage, displaying posters and artwork, while Year 3 performed an original eco-themed song they had written themselves. A vintage fashion show featuring pre-loved clothing—including fancy dress costumes and school uniforms—promoted the value of reuse and conscious consumption. The fair also prioritised reduced use of plastics, aligning with the school’s broader sustainability goals and efforts to raise awareness among all stakeholders.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Pupils took part in Mental Health Awareness Week, helping them build resilience for the future. For example, our Year 5 pupils trained as Mental Health Champions and Year 4 created a collaborative piece of artwork featuring self-portraits and joined in a special video session, where England captain, Harry Kane, alongside Shini Muthukrishnan and Ade Adepitan, helped them explore how movement can boost our mood.

Partnership with Local Environmental Organisations

Mrs Guest has been liaising with local volunteer groups in preparation for our litter picking projects this term and next. In order to get a full understanding of how the community groups work, she took her son along to have a go themselves!
